What role do you play in this life you lead?
Are you portraying the real you?
Or is it a person you don't recognize?
Are you the lead character?
Or an "extra"?
I played the role of abused, financially and emotionally
bankrupt girlfriend for more years than I'd like to admit.
And it wasn't limited just to the relationship
I had with the father of my daughters.
Nope.
I put myself in the role even before he came into the picture.
When I opened my eyes on Thanksgiving Day 2004, I
realized the person I had been was in no way, shape
or form the woman I was born to be.
I was playing the role of someone who was cold, bitter,
and withdrawn.
I was certainly not that person as a child! I wasn't even that
person through most of my college years.
Still...there I was.
Living a lie. And a bad one at that!
Did I *SNAP* right out of it and go back to being my true self?
Warm
Caring
Ambitious
Adventurous
Not immediately. In fact, it took a few more years to
really find that person again. She did come back though...bit by bit.
We're not all given lightbulb moments.
You may have never known who you were meant to be.
Maybe you've beem searcing since you were 10 years old.
But don't stop searching.
Ever.
The you that you were born to be is there.
Keep digging.

The Dreams of Doers
I am a Dreamer.
I am ten feet tall and bullet proof. I eat regret
for breakfast. Stir fry my past for lunch, and dine
on ambition and abundance for supper.
Just as you do.

I was a just dreamer for 32 years.
They called me an outcast.
Black sheep of the family.
Thought I had a few screws loose, too.
Then I buried the words "I Can't"
and they really thought I'd lost my marbles.
Don't judge them too harshly. They are my
family after all. And they're not dreamers.
I am a Dreamer. And when I buried "I Can't"
I became a DOER.
Why?
Because in order to BE I had to DO.
For me to find myself within myself
I had to bury a silly sounding little
phrase like "I Can't".

I study Martha Stewart and Game Show hosts.
Rachael Ray and reality shows.
How have Bob and Kenny lasted so long on Survivor while the seemingly BIG competetors are gone?

That's right.
I'm a two-faced sucker punch.
I have more cards up my sleeve

his street magic days.
You say, "I'm going to focus on this one thing."
I say, "The more the merrier. Bring it on!"
How many irons do you have in the fire?
Me? I have half a dozen.
Plus a full-time engineering gig.
How many streams of income do YOU have?
1...maybe 2 if you're adventurous.
"Deb!" they say. "How do you do it all?"
And I reply...
The same way you'd eat an elephant, my friend.

Sure, it might be tough and a challenge to keep everything going.

I LOVE a good challenge. Keeps me energized and away from boredom.
